Hospital Registration:  Step 1 in Transition of Care

When a patient registers at the hospital, is the patient’s regular doctor identified and recorded accurately?  Effective transition of care would dictate that this information is essential for the hospital to communicate care instructions to the right primary care provider in a timely manner.

No Money For The Uninsured, but $100M for an EHR System?

Matt's blog "How Would You Spend $100M" reminded me of one I wrote two years ago on this subject, and sadly not much has changed.  I calculated that a local hospital could provide primary care services twenty times for each uninsured patient for what they paid to purchase and deploy their EHR.  Surely there's a better way....
